Welcome to Georgetown County

Perhaps no other area in America is more historic or charming than Georgetown, South Carolina. From its earliest beginnings as the probable site of the first European settlement in North America in 1526, to its present status as a vibrant and gracious city of 10,000, Georgetown has always been known for its rich land, elegant homes, warm hospitality and Southern charm. Georgetown's location at the confluence of the Waccamaw, Pee Dee, Little Pee Dee, Black and Sampit Rivers, all flowing into Winyah Bay, makes it an ideal port. It is alive with boats of every size and description - from small pleasure craft to large ocean vessels.

The mission of the Georgetown County School District is to provide challenging educational programs that require all students to meet high academic standards and that prepare all students to be responsible citizens and lifelong learners.
